Small Works/Affordable Art Exhibit from November 20-Jan 15, Artist Reception December 4th!

Atelier Rosal is having it's annual small works/affordable art show to start the gift giving season. We are asking artists to bring all styles and genres of work to show on the gallery walls. Art must be framed and ready to hang and can not exceed 16"x20" (outside dimension). Works must retail at the maximum of $200.

Deadline for submissions is Sunday, November 14th at midnight. Works must be delivered to the gallery by November 18th if accepted. Please e-mail LINKS of samples to submissions@atelierrosal.com for review. Email heidi@atelierrosal.com with any questions.

Updated Hours and information

Atelier Rosal is committed to the health and safety of our staff and clients during this time.

As of today, March 17th we will be available during the hours of 11:00am to 6:00 pm by appointment only. Our surfaces have all been disinfected and we are wiping down frequently used areas such as door handles, rails and design tables after every visitor. All framed works are wiped down before being packaged.

We will be accepting orders online via email and telephone. Completed orders can be shipped depending on size or brought to your vehicle if you prefer not to come inside. Deliveries will be made on a case by case basis depending on availability of services.

All of our events, including artist receptions and poetry readings and open mics are canceled until further notice.

An Open Letter to All Memorabilia Collectors

Dear Collector,

I have to admit that after years of framing, we and the rest of the industry didn’t know better all those decades ago..

We thought acid free barriers were just as good as rag mats. Many years ago, we didn’t mind using masking or scotch tape. We only thought of the materials we used, not necessarily the medium of the art or print. But after many signed prints, balls, books, posters and countless other collectible items, I need to tell you about that signature you cherish.

Chances are, it will fade with time. It will fade faster than your love and idolization of the person who signed your item.

You’ve been told that sunlight is bad for art. Well, all light is to a varying degree. But it’s not just the amount of light on your art, it’s the pigments that were used by the printer, artist, signee. Pigments have a varying degree of lightfastness, and sharpie markers don’t have anywhere near the legs of artist quality paints. Ball point pens are the worst offender.

So, if you want your hollywood star’s or athlete’s or author’s signature to last, protect it with some UV glass. While the pigments may degrade on its own (there’s too many variables, from pigment, to environment to other quality materials to know when), give it a fighting chance with quality glazing.

After all, that signature is from the hand of your hero…
