"I never wanted color to be color. I never wanted texture to be texture, or images to become shapes. I wanted them all to fuse together into a living spirit." ~ Clyfford Still
Atelier Rosal presents “Layers of Abstraction”. Often misunderstood because of its non-representational nature, the genre has become a trope for the decorative arts strictly for its color use.
But there are many facets to the abstract painting. Beyond color and texture, the artist can create tension and release with line, fields of color, controlled applications of pigment or energetic, unrestrained strokes of paint. Titled, the artist can direct the viewer to their narrative, but more importantly, abstract works require the viewer to delve deeper into the experience of their observation of not only technique, but the poetic language of these paintings that use visual devices instead of words.
Atelier Rosal presents four artists:
Stephen Cimini
Liz Dwyer
Joe LaMattina
Debbie Painter
Amira Rahim
The show will run from June 12 to July 19th with the Artists’ Reception being held on Thursday, June 14th from 6-9pm
